Read all about it - Eternity
What Prophecies are about today and the future?
The Bible was written over 1900 years ago yet there are hundreds of predictions (prophecies) that are happening today or will happen in the future. This is because our eternal God who knows everything has shown us His power and love by giving men knowledge about the future which they wrote down, which we now read in the Bible.
You may think this is ridiculous but that is because you are looking at it from a secular viewpoint which denies the possibility of the supernatural. This is the way most of us have been educated. If we ask God to reveal Himself through these scriptures He will.
1. Prophecies about lifestyles in the last days before Jesus comes again.
Humanity will become increasingly materialistic and lovers of pleasure.
"You should also know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self- control; they will be cruel and have no interest in what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God." (2 Timothy 3:1-4).
No generation in history has had so many means to entertain and arouse the senses. Every imaginable hedonistic pleasure is available and has become big business.
Many in the last days will forsake the Ten Commandments as a moral code: blaspheming, committing adultery, disobeying parents, stealing, lying, coveting, etc.
"They did not repent of their murders or their witchcraft or their immorality or their thefts." (Revelation 9:21), describing people in the last days.
"Some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons." (1 Timothy 4:1).
This generation has witnessed the explosion of "heavenly visitors.."
Channelling, witchcraft, yoga, psychics, etc. are very popular. The final generation will be open to receiving a mark on their right hand or on their forehead.
"He required everyone - great and small, rich and poor, slave and free - to be given a mark on the right hand or on the forehead. And no one could buy or sell without that mark, which was either the name of the beast or the number representing his name. His number is 666." (Revelation 13:16-17).
Consider how the up and coming generation is tattooed, pierced and marked with all kinds of insignia. And today, for the first time in history, global tracking and marking technology is available.
Homosexuality will be popular in the last days.
"Because they worshiped the things God made and not the Creator Himself, God gave them over to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relationships with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and, as a result, suffered within themselves the penalty they so richly deserved." (Romans 1:25-27).
"And don't forget the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbouring towns, which were filled with sexual immorality and every kind of sexual perversion. Those cities were destroyed by fire and are a warning of the eternal fire that will punish all who are evil." (Jude 1:7).
Today the homosexual way of life is flaunted and forced upon our entire society.
Great wealth and luxuries will be common in the last days.
"Look here you rich people, weep and groan in anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you. Your wealth is rotting away and your fine clothes are moth-eaten rags. Your gold and silver has become worthless. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh in hell. This treasure you have accumulated will stand as evidence against you on the day of judgement. For listen! Hear the cries of the field workers whom you have cheated of their pay. The wages you held back cry out against you. The cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have spent your years on earth in luxury, satisfying every whim. Now your hearts are nice and fat, ready for the slaughter. You have condemned and killed good people who had no power to defend themselves against you. .... The great Judge is coming. He is standing at the door!." (James 5:1-6,9).
In these modern times we are seeing this prophecy being fulfilled before our eyes. The rich of this world have been thriving in a global economy by exploiting their workers, actions which God has always punished through history. Their greed is now bringing about their own downfall.

2. Prophecies about man-made changes to our world.
Global communication will be possible in the last days.
"And for three and a half days, all peoples, tribes, languages and nations will come to stare at their bodies. All the people who belong to this world will give presents to each other to celebrate the death of the two who had tormented them." (Revelation 11:9-10).
The Bible prophesies that the entire world will 'see' certain events unfold. The invention of
the television and the deployment of global satellite networks during the 20th century allow news to travel the world at the speed of light for the first time ever. When John wrote these verses news came at the speed of a horse!
Knowledge will increase.
"But you, Daniel, keep this prophecy a secret; seal up the book until the time of the end. Many will rush here and there, and knowledge will increase." (Daniel 12:4).
Today we are witnessing an explosion of available knowledge. With the advent of the Internet, it is estimated that our cumulative knowledge is doubling every five years. This exponential increase is beyond what anyone could have imagined! Many will travel to and fro. Until recently, horse, foot and boat were the only modes of transport. Today millions and millions are travelling to and fro just as Daniel prophesied 2500 years ago!
Mankind will be capable of destroying all life.
"For there will be a time of greater horror than anything the world has ever seen or will see again. In fact unless that time of calamity is shortened, the entire human race will be destroyed." (Matthew 24:21-22).
Consider that when Jesus made this prophecy the armaments of His day were swords and spears. But today, with nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons, it is possible to wipe out all flesh on planet earth.
The use of nuclear weapons will occur.
"And the Lord will send a plague on all the nations that fought against Jerusalem. Their people will become like walking corpses, their flesh rotting away. Their eyes will shrivel in their sockets, and their tongues will decay in their mouths." (Zechariah 14:12).
The neutron bomb melts (dissolves) its victims - just as God warned 2500 years ago. This was unimaginable in Zechariah's day. There will be a global cry for peace.
"For you know quite well that the day of the Lord will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. When people are saying ,'All is well; everything is peaceful and secure,' then disaster will fall upon them as suddenly as a woman's birth pains begin when her child is about to be born. And there will be no escape." (1 Thessalonians 5. 2-3).
Never has there been such a concerted, global effort to bring about peace at any cost as there is today.
The Antichrist will use (false) peace to destroy many.
"At the end of their rule, when their sin is at its height, a fierce king, a master of intrigue, will rise to power. He will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will destroy powerful leaders and devastate the holy people. He will be a master of deception, defeating many by catching them off guard." (Daniel 9:23-25).
With all the problems facing mankind most people are looking for a 'saviour' to usher in peace and prosperity without moral accountability. The Antichrist will promise the world and Israel such a peace if they follow him - but his intentions will be sinister.
There will be a move towards a global government.
"And the beast was allowed to wage war against God's holy people and to overcome them. And he was given authority to rule over every tribe and people and language and nation. And all the people who belong to this world worshiped the beast." (Revelation 13:7-8).
The former Roman Empire - which encompassed present-day Europe - would revive and eventually dominate the world. The European Union has steadily moved forward in its attempt to unite Europe politically and economically. It has succeeded in creating a European parliament, a court, and a common currency. And globalisation is not unique to Europe, it is happening everywhere.
The earth will be filled with violence.
"When the Son of Man returns, the world will be like the people were in Noah's day. In those days before the Flood, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the Flood came to destroy them all." (Luke 17:26-27).
"Now the earth became corrupt in God's sight, and it was filled with violence. God observed all this corruption in the world, and He saw violence and depravity everywhere. So God said to Noah, 'I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. Yes, I will wipe them all from the face of the earth!." (Genesis 6:11-13).
In the United State alone, violent crime has reached nearly 500% since 1960. Fifty years ago abortion (the violent murder of an unborn child) was illegal in most countries. Today abortion is legal in most countries and 46 million children are aborted each year.
The fact that God once flooded the earth (the Noahic Flood) will be denied in the last days.
"In the last days there will be scoffers who laugh at the truth and do every evil thing they desire.... They deliberately forget that God made the heavens by the word of His command, and He brought the earth up from the water and surrounded it with water. Then He used the water to destroy the world with a mighty flood." (2 Peter 3:3, 5-6).
There is a mass of fossil evidence to prove the Flood occurred, yet it is flatly ignored by most of the scientific world because it was judgment from God on man's wickedness.
There will be fearful sights.
"There will be terrifying things and great miraculous signs in the heavens." (Jesus in Luke 21:11). Nuclear warfare |
The Greek word translated fearful is phobetron, which can be translated terror. According to the U.S. State Department, between 1981 and 2006, there were more than 38,000 international attacks.
3. Prophecies about increasing disasters.
Famines and earthquakes and diseases will be common.
"There will be great earthquakes, and there will be famines and epidemics in many lands." (Luke 21:11, see also Revelation 6:5-8).
According to the United Nations, an estimated 854 million people went hungry in 2006. Seismic activity is on the rise with the Boxing Day Tsunami etc. killing thousands every year. Epidemics such as HIV Aids, malaria, cholera, ebola, Hanta virus, Dengue, West Nile, SARS, bird flu etc. are on the increase in developing nations while cancer and anti-biotic immune diseases are increasing in developed nations.
"Down here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and the strange tides. The courage of many people will falter because of the fearful fate they see coming upon the earth, because the stability of the very heavens will be broken up. Then everyone will see the Son of Man arrive on the clouds with power and great glory. So when all these things begin to happen, stand straight and look up, for your salvation is near!." (Jesus in Luke 21:25-28).
Chaotic weather will be prevalent.
We are witnessing an increase in strange weather, some nations experiencing a massive increase in deadly cyclones and heatwaves while others experience freezing and flooding unseen in their history.
Tsunami |
4. Prophecies about Israel.
The Jews will begin to regather in Israel.
"In that day the Lord will bring back a remnant of His people for the second time." (Isaiah 11:11).
"I will bring them home to their own land from the places where they have been scattered.."(Ezekiel 38:21)
Over five million Jews have returned to Israel since 1948! This is unprecedented in human history. Never has a people group been dispersed for hundreds of years to every corner of the globe, and then regathered back to their homeland. Yet, God said it and He has done it before our very eyes!
Israel will prosper economically.
"The time is coming when my people will take root. Israel will bud and blossom and fill the whole earth with her fruit." (Isaiah 27:6).
Flower industry in Israel |
"Even the wilderness will rejoice in those days. The desert will blossom with flowers. Yes, there will be abundance of flowers and singing and joy! The deserts will become as green as the mountains of Lebanon, as lovely as Mt. Carmel's pastures and the plain of Sharon. There the Lord will display His glory, the splendour of our God." (Isaiah 35:1-2).
Israel's increased rainfall and world-renowned irrigation technology have caused the land to blossom. Incredibly, as foretold, they currently export over 800 million dollars worth of produce each year, including over 200 million in flowers and ornamental plants! Israel has exported over 42 billion dollars worth of goods in 2006. This was inconceivable a century ago when the land was a wasteland.
Anti-Semitism world-wide is anticipated.
"Why arouse My anger by burning incense to the idols you have made here in Egypt? You will only destroy yourselves and make many an object of cursing and mockery for all the nations of the earth." (Jeremiah 44:8 etc.).
History confirms that the Jews have been persecuted as no other people group. Hitler tried to exterminate them, and the Antichrist will attempt the same during the Tribulation.
Today, anti-Semitism is a global epidemic. For example, of over 700 General Assembly resolutions passed since the establishment of the United Nations in 1945, nearly 450 condemn Israel.
Britain is now anti-Israel |
None have been passed against any Arab country nor any terrorist organizations! In other words out of 190 nations in the UN, over 60% of all General Assembly resolutions rebuke just one member, Israel!
All surrounding nations will be united against Israel.
"I will make Jerusalem and Judah like an intoxicating drink to all the nearby nations that send their armies to besiege Jerusalem." (Zechariah 12:2).
Jerusalem is a small city, with no natural resources, no port, insignificant manufacturing and industrial capability, yet its very existence causes the surrounding nations to shudder. Jerusalem will be trampled upon by Gentiles (non-Jews) until their time is finished.
"And Jerusalem will be conquered and trampled down by the Gentiles until the age of the Gentiles comes to an end." (Jesus in Luke 21:24).
Since 70 AD., Jerusalem has been trampled by Gentiles until the Jews regained control of the city during the 1967 Six-Day War.

5. Conclusion
There are hundreds more prophecies about the last days which can be read by going to www.eternal-productions.org . There are enough here to demonstrate that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Our generation has witnessed the coming together of these events yet most eyes are blinded to the truth because people love to walk in darkness if they can exercise free will.
Do not be deceived by false prophets like Nostradamus who typically repackage and plagiarize the Bible's prophecies for the unsuspecting masses, or make so many vague prophecies that one is bound to be fulfilled.
Jesus said that some people would be gripped with fear when these signs occur (Luke 21:26), while others would look up with hopeful expectation (Luke 21:28).
Which camp do you fall into?
If you're fearful there is good news and bad news.
The bad news is that God will judge everyone who breaks even one of His laws.
Have you ever blasphemed your Creator's name? Lied (white lies and fibs count)? Stolen (cheating on a test or taxes is stealing)?
Looked with lust?
If you have answered 'yes' to these questions, then by your own admission, you are a blaspheming, lying, thieving, adulterer at heart. And we have only looked at four of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20).
That's how God sees you. Keep in mind, God sees every secret sin of your past as if it just occurred. Nothing is hidden from His eyes. Also remember that Jesus rebuked the pious religious leaders of His day because, although they appeared good on the outside, inside they were prideful hypocrites. They were trusting in their own 'goodness,' but the Lord saw their hearts.
No matter how upright we may appear on the surface, all of us have broken God's holy commandments and need the Saviour. Please listen to your conscience. You know you are guilty, and should justly end up in hell. That's not God's will.
In fact, God "is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).
The good news is that God has made a way to freely forgive us so that we may spend
eternity with Him in heaven.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8).
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16).
God desires a loving, eternal relationship with each person - free from sin, fear, and pain. Therefore, He sent His Son to die as our substitute on the cross.
"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23).
Jesus never sinned. Therefore, He alone qualified to pay the penalty for our sins on the cross. We sinned, but Jesus died in our place. He then rose from the grave defeating death. All who turn from their sins and call on His name will be saved.
If these signs alarm you, thank God, because the Lord wants to awaken you from your spiritual slumber and give you eternal life.
To repent of your sins and place your trust in Jesus Christ, make Psalm 51 your prayer:
Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love.
Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins.
Wash me clean from my guilt, purify me from my sin.
For I recognize my shameful deeds - they haunt me day and night. Against you, and you alone, have I sinned;
I have done what is evil in you sight.
You will be proved right in what you say, and you judgment against me is just.
For I was born a sinner - yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.
But you desire honesty from the heart, so you can teach me to be wise in my inmost being.
Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean;
Wash me and I will be whiter than snow.
Oh, give me back my joy again;
You have broken me - now let me rejoice. Don't keep looking at my sins.
Remove the stain of my guilt.
Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me.
Do not banish me from your presence and don't take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me again the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.
Then I will teach your ways to sinners, and they will return to you.
Forgive me for shedding blood, O God who saves;
Then I will joyfully sing of your forgiveness.
Unseal my lips, O Lord, that I may praise you.
